Synthworks is the independent, designer-led sound-design label of Ian Dixon.
I'm Ian — a musician and sound designer with a longstanding fascination for the character of vintage analogue, FM and digital synthesizers. Synthworks brings together the sounds I programme, the instruments I explore and the music I make.
My libraries are created with real synthesizers and shaped for expression and playability: from evolving Wavestate textures and multi/poly performances to Modwave wavetables and opsix FM tones.
Alongside the sound packs, I develop free browser-based MIDI editors and librarians, share sound-design tutorials and release original electronic music. It's all part of the same idea: understand the instrument, then create something musical with it.
